Coach Serenity started training Jiu Jitsu in 2021 during the pandemic. She wanted to learn how to protect herself on the ground by understanding how body mechanics and leverage could win a grappling exchange.  

Training jiu jitsu gave her an outlet to practice discipline and hold herself accountable. She finds no better environment for maintaining a learner's mindset, with endless opportunities to challenge herself. She continues to train because of the friendships she's made at the gym. There is no Jiu Jitsu without the people you train with and the community you build along the way. 

Serenity is also a black belt in Shudokan Karate, which sparked her interest in martial arts and briefly introduced her to grappling. That experience later inspired her to transition to jiu jitsu shortly after high school.
